Paul D.
Curtis and his wife, Thelmarie "Thel,"
have been married for 44 years,
and are engaged in full-time
preaching and teaching ministry
in the USA and in foreign
countries.
Paul felt the call of God to
become a minister, and
transferred to Southwestern
Assemblies of God University in
Waxahachie, Texas, where he
graduated with a B.A. degree,
class of 1959. Paul has been an
ordained Assemblies
of God minister since 1963.
Thelmarie was raised in a
Christian home in Houston, Texas
and received Christ as Savior at
a very early age. She is a
relational speaker and skilled
teacher of God's word, lacing
her presentation with warmth and
humorous anecdotes. Her
Christ-centered ministry edifies
and encourages believers, and
calls people to faith in God. Thel's practical applications of
biblical truth help people find
wholeness in the Lord. She is a
woman of prayer and is engaged
daily in intercessory prayer.
Thelmarie was the Women's Aglow
Area Board President for the
state of North Carolina in the
USA for several years, has led
state retreats, and has spoken
in Women's Aglow chapters in the
USA and in Britain.
Paul and Thelmarie have
ministered extensively in the
USA and on five continents,
including 28 preaching missions
to Britain, and missions to the
former USSR and communist
Eastern Europe, Albania, France,
West Africa, the Far East and
a one month mission to India
in November 1999.
They have ministered the word of
God among many different
denominations and fellowships;
on campuses, in prisons, to
business, professional,
educational, and military
groups; on radio, television,
through publications, and online
computer communications.
They have served pastorates in
Texas, California, North
Carolina and Georgia. In
1997 they resigned the pastorate
of International Christian
Centre (ICC) to return to
full time Missionary Evangelism.
International Christian Centre
is an Assemblies of God church
they founded 1991 in Atlanta,
Georgia, a ministry to
internationals - primarily
Southeast Asians - and foreign
language groups.
From 1984-1990 Paul was the Area
Director and Thelmarie was the
Administrator of The Christian
Broadcasting Network's (CBN) 700
Club Ministry Center in
Atlanta. Together, with their
staff, they operated 45 ministry
telephones, 18 hours a day,
for prayer counseling response
to CBN's 700 Club Christian
television program. Thelmarie
helped train more than 600
volunteer telephone prayer
counselors. The Curtis' and
their team led more than 15,000
people to Christ as Savior, and
prayed
with more than 700,000 callers
in those six years. They
conducted a daily chapel service
at the CBN Center, which was
open to staff and visitors from
the community.
For nearly four years, Thelmarie
served as confidential
Administrative Secretary to Paul
who was Presbyter of the North
Atlanta Section, Georgia
District of the Assemblies of
God. Paul was the Overseer of
23 churches and assisted in the
oversight of Georgia's 220
churches and 510 ministers. He
was a Ministerial Credentialing
Committeeman, and was chair of
the District Media Study
Committee.
For five years Paul was the
Director and Thelmarie was the
Administrator of Teen Challenge
in Los Angeles, California, and
later in Chicago, Illinois.
Teen Challenge is
an evangelistic recovery
ministry to drug and substance
abusing young men and women.
They've seen hundreds of drug
addicts delivered from the
demonic and set free from the
bondage of drugs. Many are now
in full-time ministry.
The Curtis's, who are native
Texans, reside in Stone
Mountain, Georgia, a suburb of
Atlanta. They have three
children, two daughters-in-law,
one son-in-law, and seven
grandchildren.
